Custom Coaching Program

What does custom coaching mean?

Anyone can go out on the internet and find many free -or cheap- generic training plans.  The problem here is that there is no such thing as a generic triathlete.  Everyone has strengths and weaknesses.  No generic program takes these into account. Often the best way to improve in triathlon is to focus on your weak event.  And what if you get injured?  Do you pick up where you left off, or jump ahead to where you would have been?  What if you have a family vacation scheduled during a key week of training?

Custom coaching means you fill out our detailed athlete profile and then have a one-on-one pre-season consultation with Coach Chris.  Your custom program is determined by your specific goals and available time to train.

In addition to custom triathlon training plans, we also offer custom running plans.

Your custom training program includes:

Subscription to Training Peaks:

  • Daily e-mails of workouts
  • Detailed training log
  • Nutrition Log

One-on-one pre-season consultation with Coach Chris

Heart-Rate based training or power-based training

Unlimited e-mail contact with both coaches

Athlete-initiated phone contact

One free swim stroke analysis session per year

 Costs

$115 per month
$100 per month if you pay for 6 months or 1 year at a time

To ensure we offer top-notch services to our athletes, we will only be accepting the first 10 interested clients.  We will not add any more until we determine that this is a manageable number given our time constraints.

Please shop around and you’ll find this is one of the best deals on fully-custom coaching anywhere.  Put these costs in perspective.  A new set of aero wheels will cost you more than 1 year’s coaching!  I guarantee that anyone will see much greater improvements with a custom structured training program over a set of wheels.

We also offer additional one-time services including season consultations, swim stroke analysis, bike fitting and more.  See Additional Services for more details.

Athlete Expectations:

Communicate with your coaches!  We’re good, but we’re not mind readers.  You have to tell us if the workload is too much, too little or if you feel an injury coming on.

Give the program a chance.  Our programs are designed for long-term improvement -- please don’t worry too much about the short term.

Don’t try to “make up” a missed workout.  In most cases, it is best to just move forward with the schedule as written.

Coach Expectations

We’ll try to make program adjustments on a weekly (not daily!) basis.

We love coaching, but we also work real jobs. Our goal is to try to respond to e-mails within 24 hours, but that won't always be practical.

We will listen to athlete feedback and take your input into consideration.

We will work with you to achieve a sustainable training/life balance so that you aren't burned out at the end of this (or any) season.

FAQ

Q. What does custom mean?  Will another Revolution athlete have the same workouts as me?

A. Depending on the time of year and goal races you will often have the same workouts as other athletes, but the specified intensities (heart rate or power) will make these fit your schedule.

Q. Are your programs mostly for local athletes or can anyone be coached by Revolution?

A. We are primarily a web-based coaching company.  We offer almost all the same services to remote athletes.  Local athletes may benefit from occasional clinics and having the coaches at some of the same races.

Q. Do I need a Powertap to participate in Revolution Multisport coaching?

A. No. While we very highly recommend power training to our athletes, we can also create cycling workouts based on heart rate ranges.  You will need a heart rate monitor.
